How to root LG Optimus Black P970 with Smart Flash Tool:
- Download Smart Flash Tool – Here
- Download Patch files – Here
- Download Super User – Here
- Transfer the superuser.zip into SD card.
- And you must install LG mobile drivers in PC.
- Switch off your phone. And hold volume Up button then connect USB Cable with PC.
- You will see “S/W upgrade please wait while upgrading”
- Extract SmartFlashTool_External.rar and run B_SmartFlashTool_Extern.exe
- Select “ROM copy D/L”
- Extract the “PATCHED_BIN_LGP970-V20o-MAR-03-2012-by-Snegovik.7z”
- Select CP bin as “[PATCHED]V20O_DEU.bin”
- And Select AP bin as “V20O_DEU.fls”
- Click Start button.
- After flashing with this method, your phone will reboots into recovery mode.
- And do “Wipe all data”, “Factory reset”.
- And choose “install zip from sd card” and then select “superuser.zip” in sd card.
- After that choose “reboot system now”.

After first reboot, it goes into continuous loop and doesn’t allow me to choose the option to install from zip. advise please….

Ok again switch off your phone. And then, press Home button + Volume Up + Power button together. This will get you into recovery mode. Then choose, Wipe data, wipe cache, and then choose install zip from sd card.

Everything worked fine except I lost the 3G signal from the cell, had a consistent message on the screen of failure in the process “com.android.phone”. The only thing I could think was do a hard-reset by dialing 3845 # * 970 # and in the menu “Factory Reset”.

pls help,i’ve done everything,but whe i came to recovery mode i choose wipe all data/reset factory settings,and it says this cannot be undone and down is the list of all NO…then i tryed to install superuser.zip and that to didnt worked!!! WHATS the problem Flashing was ok!!

It normally takes few minutes to install the updates at the first time restarting your phone. If your phone is still on the logo, try to flash stock rom then do the steps again.

romeo please help me if u can..i have a big problem..i bought optimus black from a friend..the phone is all fine..it had 2.2 froyo..till i decided today to instalt lg suite…an older version it seemed..and apeared that i need to upgrade to a better version…so NOW MY PHONE IS STUCK AT SW upgrade..please wait while upgrading……..i cant do shit now! even if i remove battery…and i power the phone the same shit appears…..i`m so sad…i tried a version of smart flash with 2 files..wont work..cuz the phone is not recognized on the usb in the right way 🙁

a me è andato tutto bene fino a quando ho dovuto installare superuser.zip: infatti dopo avere selezionato la voce “install zip file from SD card” ed avere ovviamente indicato la posizione del file da installare (superuser.zip, da me precedentemente copiato nella root della SD card), appare una richiesta di conferma <> seguita da un elenco di 6 opzioni, tutte riportanti la stessa scritta: “NO”.
Qualcuno mi sa spiegare come possa confermare l’installazione divronte ad un simile scenario?

l’elenco è effettivamente fatto male ma il modo c’è, con il dito fai scorrere la lista (noterai che l’elenco è molto lungo) e tra i vari “NO” ad un certo punto noterai la comparsa di una voce diversa dalle altre: “install superuser.zip”

Can’t wait to root my Opimust Black, but first, some questions from a noob … Every other tutorial I’ve seen that uses SmartFlash tool recommends removing the battery and sd card before starting this process, and a couple suggest removing the sim card as well. Is it really necessary to do that, or just another precaution I could or should take before rooting? And if I do remove these items, when do I reinsert them? I want to get this right the first time, as I’m sure you can understand.

Yes you need to remove those items. Because some process may be run even your phone switched off. But, if you remove battery it doesn’t run. After removing the battery, and wait for few seconds and install it again.

My LG OB p970 is running on android v2.3.4 it’s very slow…i get frustrated manier times it takes 10-20 seconds to get home page some times need battery removal …even I uninstalled lots app 600 MB internal is free..and Im also not using any 3rd party launcher..auto task killer helping little bit …My phone is utilizing 85 to 92% use of RAM what to do ? How I can make it run faster ? Plz help
